Stephen Robinson 'not sure what VAR there for' after huge St Mirren penalty incident controversy

Stephen Robinson kept his cool after St Mirren were robbed of a spot-kick award at Ross County in the latest VAR controversy to hit the Premiership.

The Buddies earned an unlikely point in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night when supersub Toyosi Olusanya struck with just four minutes remaining to cancel out Jordan White's first-half opener.

However, the evening will be remembered for VAR official Greg Aitken seemingly failing to check for and spot a Ryan Leak handball when assessing whether or not he tugged James Bolton's shirt in the box.

On-field referee Chris Graham didn't rule on the incident, and no penalty was awarded, with Saints chief Robbo measured in his post-match analysis in front of the Sky Sports cameras following the final whistle.

He said: "My view was miles away but I have seen it back. It hits his hand but apparently that wasn't checked so I'm not sure what VAR is there for then.

"I can't say I'm surprised. Frustrating, yes. Did we the earn right to win the game? Potentially not but if that decision goes our way then we're certainly get back in the game a lot quicker and can relax a bit more.
