Bacary Sagna has issued his honest verdict on Radu Dragusin, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur recently. Despite fierce competition from Bayern Munich, the Lilywhites have agreed a deal to sign the 21-year-old defender from Genoa this month.
football.london understands that Dragusin will fly to London on Wednesday before completing a medical. It's believed that Djed Spence will head the other way, joining the Italian club on loan until the end of the season.
The deal to sign the Romania international comes shortly after the arrival of Timo Werner, who arrived from RB Leipzig on a temporary basis on Tuesday. Tottenham will have the option to sign the Germany international permanently for £15.5million in the summer.
Unlike Werner, who already has Premier League experience under his belt, it remains to be seen whether Dragusin can hit the ground running in the English top-flight. With Spurs susceptible to numerous injuries at the back this season, Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that the Romanian can steady the ship.
In an interview with Lord Ping, Sagna rated Dragusin – and Jean-Clair Todibo, who has also been linked with a move to Tottenham recently. The former Arsenal defender backed the Genoa ace to be a great success on British soil.
«I think that Dragusin and Todibo are both good defenders that would suit the Premier League,» said Sagna. «I watch a lot of Italian football, and Dragusin is one of the players that has stood out for me.
