Former Liverpool defender Kolo Toure was in hysterics after being reminded of an infamous moment when once on trial with Arsenal.
The former Ivory Coast international started his Premier League career with the Gunners, joining the club from ASEC Mimosas for just £150k back in 2002. He would go on to make 326 appearances in seven and a half years in North London, before moving to Man City and later Liverpool.
Toure’s trial before signing for Arsenal is the stuff of legend, with former team-mate Ray Parlour memorably recalling on TalkSPORT in 2014 how he took out Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, and even manager Arsene Wenger in quick-succession during one training session. Yet it was such enthusiasm that ultimately persuaded the Frenchman to sign the centre-back.

Appearing on TalkSPORT with Jim White and former team-mate Martin Keown on Friday, Parlour’s version of events was replayed to Toure. And the former Reds defender was in hysterics before sharing his own version of events.
"I was so enthusiastic! For me, I could not believe I was training with these guys,” he said. "I was coming there and having the chance to express myself with people who were my idols.
“When the game started, I wanted to show people what I was capable of doing. For me, it was a big chance that I did not want to miss at all.
"I was trying to tackle everything I could... including the manager!"
Keown then interjected: “Do you remember what the manager said? He was getting to his feet and he said ‘we sign him, we sign him, please do it!’”
