Tottenham player ratings vs Crystal Palace - Johnson impact as Werner, Romero and Son score
Tottenham came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 3-1 in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Postecoglou's team took on a Palace side helmed by Oliver Glasner, fresh from his debut victory in the dugout against Burnley, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Left-back Destiny Udogie was back from injury while Richarlison picked up a knee injury against Wolves so captain Son Heung-min played through the middle with Timo Werner coming into the team on the left of the front three.
The Spurs boss dropped Pape Matar Sarr to the bench with Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur playing alongside James Maddison.
Tottenham had 82% of the possession in the first half but were unable to find a way through, despite Timo Werner being put clear through by Son only to see his shot saved. Then they were made to pay when Eberechi Eze curled in a free-kick in the 59th minutes for the visitors.
It was the introduction of Brennan Johnson that helped Spurs find a way back. In the 77th minute he harassed Joachim Andersen until he got the ball back and ran on and picked out Werner at the back post to score his first goal for the club.
Then three minutes later Cristian Romero turned the game on its head as the vice-captain nodded in James Maddison's lobbed ball into the box. The captain himself then made it 3-1. A Johnson tackle got the ball through to Son and he ran through and made no mistake with his low finish into the bottom right corner.
