Glentoran 6 Coleraine 0
Glentoran's David Fisher bagged a hat-trick
Coleraine boss Oran Kearney at The Oval
Manager Warren Feeney yesterday handed Glentoran owner Ali Pour the perfect birthday present — a thumping win over an anaemic Coleraine at the BetMcLean Oval.
The British-Iranian businessman, who purchased the club in July 2019, couldn’t hide his delight as the east Belfast team produced one best performances of the season.
Hotshot David Fisher hit his first hat-trick for the Glens, with his strike partner Junior Uzokwo bagging a delicious double.
Midfielder Bobby Burns also got in on the scoring stakes to condemn Oran Kearney’s Bannsiders to their sixth successive League defeat, resulting in them dropping into the bottom six in the table.
The hammering helped heap more pressure on Kearney, as the Bannsiders have now won only one of their last 10 League outings.
“We picked a good day to produce one of our best displays,” beamed Feeney. “The boss was over for the game, it’s his birthday tomorrow. He asked me for a 3-0 win, I told him I’d take 1-0.
“Ali’s a great owner, he’s at this club for the long haul, we’ve great people at the football club. All the noise going around the place (doubting Pour’s commitment), is just damaging their own football club.
“We all have expectations. As a club we want to progress on and off the park. We’ve got to move forward slowly.
“Ali’s here for the long run. I’ve already asked him for a few new faces (players). I’m not one of those people who rest on their laurels and he knows that.
“Hopefully, that 6-0 victory will make it easier for me to negotiate.”
