James Tarkowski has described the bust-up between Everton and Newcastle United’s players following Thursday’s game at Goodison Park as nothing more than "handbags".
In the immediate aftermath of Tim Robinson's full-time whistle going, both sets of players were involved in a melee. Jordan Pickford appeared to get into an argument with Bruno Guimaraes, while James Tarkowski and Joelinton both had to be dragged away by their team-mates.
Fabian Schar also clashed with Everton kit man Shaun Doran as he made his way toward the tunnel, while former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius, who was on the bench for Eddie Howe’s side, was also in the thick of the melee.

But when asked what happened following his side’s 3-0 victory, Blues centre-back Tarkowski said: “I just enjoy pushing people around. I just saw it kicking off and got over there, pushed a few people, got off and had a smile."
Asked what could have sparked it all off, the defender added: “I’m really not sure. I just turned around and saw a few people bundling around with each other, so I had a little run over to see what was going on.
“It was just handbags, and nothing ever happens. It is easy to go over there and give a little smirk and a push when you have just won 3-0. It was nothing and happens all the time on a football pitch."
Second-half goals from Dwight McNeil, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Beto helped Sean Dyche’s side make it back-to-back wins. The victory also moved the Everton out of the relegation zone.
