Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham plan for Crystal Palace amid Chelsea Carabao Cup final headache

Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham players will find themselves watching on this weekend with no Premier League game on the calendar. Due to face London rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening, Spurs discovered one month ago that the game would not take place as originally planned due to the Blues' Carabao Cup final showdown against Liverpool.

A new date for the fixture will have to be found instead, with the prospect of the rearranged Chelsea match coming in a nightmare week for Tottenham towards the end of the season. While you could maybe say there are a few benefits to not having a game following last weekend's home defeat against Wolves, Postecoglou told football.london on the eve of the Wolves match that he would rather have a fixture on the schedule rather than time off.

«Yeah I think at this time of year you’d rather have a game,» said the 58-year-old. «We only have one a week, we’re obviously not in Europe and not in the cup.

»It also means that game will probably get jammed when we have to play some big fixtures in a short space of time. So I’d much rather have a game but we’ve known we’re not going to have a game so we’ve been planning accordingly."
