Arsenal wantaway forwardNicolas Pepe looks set to leave the club in the coming days as reports claim he is undergoing a medical to join Besiktas.
That's according toL'Equipe, which states that the Ivorian has had a change of heart over joining the Turkish club, who he rejected earlier in the summer. The Gunners are set to receive a small fee to recoup the huge £72million they paid for the winger back in 2019.
Due to how the fee is spread across the contract, £14.4million would see the north London outfit break even on the current value of Pepe on the financial books. It would put an end to a difficult four years with the club for the forward, who only has one year remaining on his contract.
Pepe joined with huge expectations, smashing the club's record transfer fee and becoming part of the new team lined up by head coach Unai Emery. The forward managed 11 goal involvements in 31 appearances in the Premier League, often starting on the right-wing.
He would soon lose his place to up-and-coming starletBukayo Saka, who had impressed under the tutelage of new boss Mikel Arteta soon after he arrived. Pepe was demoted to being a substitute option or a player often used in rotation during cup matches to give others a break.
