Ben Doak sends 'improvements' message after first Liverpool start
Ben Doak is refusing to rest on his laurels after making history and becoming Liverpool's fourth-youngest European debutant during the victory against LASK - insisting "improvement is needed."
The 17-year-old Scotland youth international was handed his first Liverpool start at the Raiffeisen Arena as manager Jurgen Klopp made 11 changes to the side that defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux last weekend. In making his first starting berth, the former Celtic youngster made history as he became the Reds' youngest European debutant since Raheem Sterling in 2012.
Doak, who had made six substitute appearances for Liverpool prior to his first start in Austria, lasted 61 minutes before he was replaced by Dominik Szoboszlai with Klopp's side drawing 1-1 against the Austrian Bundesliga outfit in their Europa League Group B opener.
In spite of falling behind for the fourth time already this season, though, the Reds produced an impressive second-half display to overturn Florian Flecker's early strike as goals from Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah secured a 3-1 triumph.

In all, it made for a good night for both Doak and Liverpool, with the youngster's fearless showing helping the Reds extend their unbeaten run to 17 games in all competition. Indeed, not since April's trip to Manchester City have they tasted defeat.
Posting on Instagram after the game, Doak wrote: "First start and European debut. Some good bits, some improvements needed. Time to push on."
