Royale Union Saint-Gilloise are reportedly looking to land a major marquee signing ahead of their clash with Liverpool.
The Belgian side are part of the Reds’ Europa League group, with Jurgen Klopp’s side getting underway against LASK on Thursday night. Union SG are a team with a growing reputation, having reached the quarter-finals of the competition last season and finished second in the league.
Their success in recent years is connected to investment from Brighton owner Tony Bloom. Union SG’s rise will be familiar to one player in the Liverpool squad, Alexis Mac Allister, whose brother Kevin joined the club this summer. Their squad also includes a trio of Englishmen, who have played for Swansea City, Portsmouth and Accrington Stanley, respectively
However, Union SG are reportedly targeting a much more ambitious move. Belgian star Eden Hazard remains a free agent after leaving Real Madrid in June and the Brussels-based club want to bring the 32-year-old back to his homeland.

That’s according to Spanish outlet AS, who claim that the club are ‘interested’ in signing the former Chelsea talisman and reviving his career. Since completing his £89m move to Real Madrid in 2019, Hazard has struggled for fitness and made just 10 appearances overall in his final season at the Bernabeu.
The report states that Hazard’s response to Union SG has been ‘lukewarm’, so far, while other offers have also not been overly convincing.
