He made 213 appearances for United during his half-decade at the club, scoring 14 goals and playing a key role in many of their most impressive recent victories.
Fred has enjoyed a good start to life in Turkey with league leaders Fenerbahce but has recently been sidelined with a groin injury he suffered last month.
The former United defender is set to miss his side's Europa Conference League meeting with Nordsjaelland later this week, so he made the most of his opportunity to meet up with his former teammates while they were in the Turkish capital.
Fred was pictured alongside close friends Bruno Fernandes and Victor Lindelof at the United hotel, while he also had conversations with Erik ten Hag and his assistant coaches Mitchell van der Gaag and Steve McClaren.
United must beat Galatasaray on Wednesday night to have any realistic chance of reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League this season.
