Caoimhin Kelleher has been told he has "got to get out" of Liverpool for the sake of his international career, by former Reds defender Jason McAteer.
And the ex-Ireland and Liverpool man believes Kelleher could look back on his career with huge regrets if he remains at Anfield playing second fiddle to Alisson Becker in goal.
Kelleher made just one Premier League appearance last term - on the final day of the campaign at Southampton - and has turned out just 21 times since his debut came four years ago this month in a win over MK Dons in the League Cup.
The highlight of Kelleher's time with the Reds came when he scored the winning penalty in a shootout victory over Chelsea in the League Cup final at Wembley in February 2022 but he has generally found his opportunities limited due to the performances of Alisson.

McAteer, who made 139 appearances for the Reds across a four-year career, has urged Kelleher to assess his future and believes the 24-year-old will struggle to displace the Brazilian for the long term on Merseyside.
Speaking to BoyleSports about Premier League Betting,McAteer said: "He's played his part. He was the hero in the League Cup final, he's had some great moments with the club. But for me football is about playing football.
"You don't want to go through your career where you've sat on a bench and get to the later stages of your career wanting the opportunity to go and play. His time is now.
