Jadon Sancho is named on the BENCH for Dortmund's clash against Darmstadt
Jadon Sancho is starting on the bench for Dortmund in their Bundesliga clash with Darmstadt on Saturday evening.
Sancho completed a move to a club he called 'home' during the week as the winger was left looking for a route out of Manchester following disagreements with United boss Erik Ten Hag.
The 23-year-old winger travelled with the team to Darmstadt after rejoining the German side on loan from Manchester United.
He managed 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games in his first Dortmund spell, and fans are hoping he will find similar form again in black and yellow.
Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen makes his debut for the Bundesliga club against Darmstadt, alongside Marcel Sabitzer, Niclas Fullkrug, and Julian Brandt.
Sancho rejoined Dortmund until the end of the season after the German side agreed to pay United a £3million loan fee.
The deal includes up to £3.4m in add-ons based on Dortmund’s progress in the Champions League and qualification for Europe next season, as well as the number of games Sancho plays.
There is no option for the German club to buy the 23-year-old at the end of the loan, after they sold him to United for £73million in 2021.
Mail Sport revealed that United will have to contribute £100,000 to Sancho’s £295,000-a-week wages, but both the club and the player will be relieved to draw a line under a saga that has dragged on for months.
He was pictured taking part in his first team training session on Thursday after arriving back in Germany on Wednesday to complete his medical.
Sancho played for Dortmund from 2017 and 2021 and racked up 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances.
Dortmund boss Edin Terzic said he wants to integrate Sancho into the team as quickly as possible.
