Jose Mourinho has taken to social media to pay tribute to his time in charge of Roma, following his sacking earlier this week.
The Portuguese manager had great success leading the Giallorossi in his first two seasons in charge, notably winning the inaugural Europa Conference League title in 2021-2022.
However, despite continuing to show sings of improving the Italian side in his second term in charge, things began to derail in his third campaign.
His sacking on Monday came after back-to-back losses, including a 1-0 Rome derby defeat to Lazio, with his side in ninth, a full 22 points off leaders Inter after 20 games.
Club legend Daniele De Rossi was swiftly appointed his successor at the Giallorossi, with Mourinho's future now uncertain.
In announcing the club's decision, Roma suggested that they believed 'immediate change' was needed to get their season back on track.
The iconic manager took to Instagram to pay tribute to the ups and downs of his tenure in the hotseat in the Italian capital, posting a series of photos to the backing of Andrea Bocelli.
'Sweat, blood, tears, joy, sadness, love, brothers, history, heart, eternity,' he captioned the post, as he said good bye to the club he had coached for the past two-and-a-half years.
Among the photos were celebrations of that Conference League triumph in summer 2022, Mourinho himself celebrating with fans and players, and photos of the Roma faithful in their stadium.
For some fans, the news of Mourinho's sacking was a bitter blow, responding to the former manager's Instagram post to send out their support.
One wrote: 'Forever one of our own. Eternally grateful Mister.'
For another it was clearly a very emotional moment, adding: 'Mister not even when my ex left me I was so hurt.'
