Ange Postecoglou is facing quite the task to turn around the fortunes at Tottenham following a fourth defeat in five Premier League games. Once again Spurs went in front but they were unable to make further chances in the first half count with London rivals West Ham scoring twice in the second period to secure a huge victory.
Cristian Romero scored on his return to the starting XI after serving a three-match ban but goals from Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse saw David Moyes' side head back across the capital with all three points. To pile on the misery at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Son Heung-min was spotted in some discomfort on the bench following his substitution with the captain offering an update on his condition after the game.
«It hurts a bit. It hurts a lot more when it crashed earlier,» he said during his interview with club media. «I got a little sore even after it was over so I took painkillers now. I will have to look at it tomorrow, but I just hope it's not serious.»
When asked about Son, Postecoglou offered a general update on the injuries within his squad. «Nothing new really,» he said on Friday. «The last update I got late last night was that he [Son] was a bit sore last night after the game. We'll have to see today. A couple more knocks in the game. Pape and Richy both reported ok after the game but we won't be getting anyone else back I don't think before the new year.»
The final comment made in that answer certainly suggests that the current squad is what Postecoglou will be working with over the busy Christmas period. Eric Dier and Rodrigo Bentancur were the latest to join the injury list with respective groin and ankle injuries.
