Lille OSC are plotting an unexpected move to lure Inter Milan striker Joaquín Correa (29) to Stade Pierre-Mauroy, according to a report this Wednesday from Foot Mercato.
The French publication understands that the Ligue 1 side are seeking information as to the feasibility of the deal. Lille CEO Olivier Létang reportedly got in touch this morning with the Argentine striker’s representative, Alessandro Lucci. A meeting that was not to the liking of Inter Milan, who would have preferred Létang to talk to the club first. The French publication adds that, to this day, any deal for Correa would be financially difficult for Lille.
Correa joined Inter Milan from Lazio Rome last summer in a €27m deal. The Argentine’s debut season with the Nerazzurri did not live up to expectations. He has logged only four goals and three assists in 41 games with Simone Inzaghi’s side. The 29-year-old striker is expected to face increased competition within the squad with Alexis Sanchez set to rejoin Inter. Correa was an unused substitute during Inter’s Serie A curtain-raiser win against Monza. Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez started up front. The French publication understands that Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga outfits have also contacted Correa’s agent.
