Simon Jordan has fired back at Gary Neville following his «billion-pound bottlejobs» Chelsea statement. His ruthless assessment came during the Blues' 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp's side won a record-extending tenth League Cup honour after Virgil van Dijk's header in the 118th-minute. Since the defeat, a lot of spotlight has been cast on Chelsea with the wealth of talent at their disposal, while Liverpool introduced three under-21 prospects in the latter stages.
At Stamford Bridge, questions have now emerged following the fallout from the devastating defeat at Wembley. For manager Mauricio Pochettino, he suffered a sixth straight cup final defeat as he waits for his first piece of silverware since returning to London in the summer.
Jordan hasn't been afraid to fire back at the former defender-turned-pundit in recent years and the ex-Crystal Palace owner has taken aswipe at Neville following his comments on Sunday. He said: «I mean (Gary) Neville must've been practising that line all week with his little Overlap gang and being quite pleased with himself to get it out on air, to call a team „bottlejobs“, you're calling them cowards essentially.
»I would expect a manager, I wouldn't expect him (Mauricio Pochettino) to dance to anyone's tune, but I don't expect it to be a little bit of bristle and maybe something has been lost in translation. I personally would like to see my manager be a bit more robust in the pushback of that observation, a little bit more prickly about my team.
«We're talking about average ages of players, there's a statistic that Chelsea started with a much younger line-up than Liverpool then with all the changes they made still ended up with a younger line-up.
