Dominik Szoboszlai has hailed Liverpool team-mate Wataru Endo when reflecting on the Reds’ midfield revamp.
The pair joined the club as part of an £150m engine-room overhaul last summer, along with Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch. But while Szoboszlai enjoyed an explosive start to life at Anfield and quickly established himself as a firm fan-favourite, Endo took time to adapt following his £16.2m move from VfB Stuttgart.
Having lost both Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to big-money moves to Saudi Arabia, and missed out on the likes of Moises Caicedo, Romeo Lavia, and Andre Trindade, eyebrows were admittedly raised when Liverpool signed the then 30-year-old Japan captain.
But having played against Endo in the Bundesliga, Szobsozlai shared his delight that the two were now team-mates rather than opponents.

“It is never easy to come into a new team, a new league with new players,” he said. “But I think we showed as a team we can reach almost everything.
“Not yet but we are on it. We have a completely new midfield with Macca, with Endo, with Ryan, with me and we showed up quite well.
“I played against him (Endo) when he was at Stuttgart and he is a player who is everywhere! It feels like you pass him and then you turn around and he is already there.
“So I can understand how the people are thinking, ‘How he is there, exactly, when I just passed him?’ But I’m happy to have him in my team.
