Former Premier League referee Mike Dean has admitted that Liverpool's late winner against Nottingham Forest arrived after a 'monumental error' by Paul Tierney.
Second-half substitute Darwin Nunez scored the winning goal deep into added time to provide yet another Premier League title twist. But all the talk after the game was about Tierney and the lead up to Liverpool's late goal.
Just a few minutes before the goal, play was stopped because of a head injury to Ibrahima Konate, with Liverpool then getting the ball back despite Callum Hudson-Odoi being the last player in possession. Yet instead of returning possession, the Reds restarted play and eventually scored the winning goal of the game.

With Forest referee analyst Mark Clattenburg offering a Nottingham Forest perspective after the game, a neutral verdict has now been provided by Dean, who officiated in the Premier League for over 20 years, And his verdict was that Liverpool benefited from an incorrect decision.
"Yeah unfortunately for Paul it is a mistake and it's a bad one because it leads to a goal eventually," he told Sky Sports.
"The law states whoever has the ball last, it goes back to them. Hudson-Odoi clearly had the ball and so it should have been dropped to Nottingham Forest on the wing
"I know Liverpool went and scored but it wasn't directly from the drop ball, it was about two minutes after, so there was a big timescale in between.
"If Mac Allister would have touched the ball it would have gone back to Liverpool then. The whistle went a second too
