Petr Cech sends message to Todd Boehly and Mauricio Pochettino in Chelsea title prediction

Chelsea legend Petr Cech has made a bold prediction about when the club will next challenge for the Premier League title.

He believes that if Mauricio Pochettino can steer the Blues in the right direction, they could be contenders in two seasons' time. Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football as pundit for Chelsea's win at Crystal Palace on Monday, the former Stamford Bridge goalkeeper said: «If we speak about the league title, obviously this season is not going in the way that we all wished for.

»I think if they can have a really strong end to the season and build up for the next season, maybe that is the season where Chelsea can climb up the table and challenge for the top four. Then, probably the season after, that is the first realistic year I think that Chelsea would be able to challenge for the title."

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has made significant changes to both the boardroom and the squad since his takeover, spending over £1billion on transfers and loan fees. He's also hired his third permanent manager. Cech added: «That takes patience and it includes the players, it includes everyone working for the football club so these things normally take time.

»It is challenging for everybody when you have a lot of changes and I think some of the players came to the club with huge expectations with a lot of money being spent on them which creates even more pressure. When the results are not there, this squad is really young and I think they find it hard to live up to those expectations."

Cech also believes Pochettino is lacking a strong spine in his team, saying: «The coaches have not found the right formula yet to find the core that would stabilise the team and then you will fill in players depending on tactics and
