Roy Keane made a shock return to Instagram on Thursday to post a smiling selfie with his former Manchester United team-mate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The ex-United captain joined Instagram in early 2021 and quickly gathered a following of more than two million followers, but he left the social media platform in May 2022.
However, after almost two years away, he was back on Instagram on Thursday, and marked his return with a picture of him and Solskjaer beaming as they sat beside each other on a boat.
Keane has become known for his dry sense of humour, and opted to put in a cheeky request as his caption by writing: 'DM us if you’re looking to hire a manager'.
Keane has made no secret of his desire to move back into management, but has not held a role for 13 years after leaving Ipswich Town in 2011.
He previously led Sunderland to promotion to the Premier League, and subsequently went on to work with the Republic of Ireland as an assistant to Martin O'Neill.
The 52-year-old has expressed interest in taking the top job with the national team, but Republic of Ireland appointed another former United player, John O'Shea, as their interim head coach last week.
Meanwhile, Solskjaer has also been away from the dugout for over two years since departing Old Trafford.
Having coached Molde and Cardiff City, Solskjaer was appointed United manager on an interim basis in December 2018 following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, and later that season took the full-time job after impressing in his opening months back at the club.
Solskjaer - a United legend thanks to his Champions League-winning goal in 1999 - led the club to consecutive top-three finishes in 2020 and 2021, but the Red Devils were unable to win a trophy as they lost in the Europa League
