Stormzy beams as the Man Utd fan watches Ivan Toney's stunning Brentford return

British grime artist Stormzy was in attendance to watch Ivan Toney's return to Brentford as the England international made his long-awaited return against Nottingham Forest on Saturday evening.

Stormzy - real name Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr. - is a self-confessed football fan and popped up at the Gtech Community Stadium to watch the action unfold between the two struggling sides.

The big talking point of the night was Toney making his return to playing following an eight-month ban from football for gambling.

His last appearance prior to Saturday came on May 6 last year and Toney was given a hero's welcome upon walking out at Brentford's ground, with Stormzy in attendance in the ground's executive seating.

There is no obvious connection between the pair, however Toney did previously reveal he listens to the multi-award winning artist to pump himself up before matches.

If he did so before taking on Forest then it clearly worked after Toney scored his side's first goal of the match with a well-worked free-kick from the edge of the box.

The musician was seen smiling as cameras showed him enjoying the match being played out in front of him.

Stormzy was born an hour away from Brentford in Croydon but supports Manchester United and has worked with the club before on marketing gigs and has also been spotted in the stands at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old music artist has struck up friendships within football and last year joined former Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha in buying a non-league football side.

Stormzy and Zaha poured funds into AFC Croydon as part of a three-man consortium.

Toney and his Brentford team-mates went on to claim a vital 3-2 victory over Forest that lifts them further away from the Premier League
