Brighton chief executive Paul Barber has made an honest admission about Roberto De Zerbi's future amid links that he could manage Liverpool.
The Reds will be working behind the scenes for a successor to Jurgen Klopp to take over in the summer. Klopp announced in January that he would be stepping down from his role as Liverpool boss at the end of the season.
De Zerbi is one of several managers who have been listed as potential candidates to replace Klopp in the Anfield dugout. He is joined by Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso, Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim and Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann as possible successors to Klopp.
As well as Liverpool, De Zerbi has also been linked with replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United amid increasing pressure on the Dutchman at Old Trafford. There is also speculation around Mauricio Pochettino's future at Chelsea, with De Zerbi reportedly a potential candidate to take over at Stamford Bridge.

Amid the continued links that De Zerbi could leave Brighton in the coming months, Barber has spoken about the Italian's future. The Seagulls' chief executive did acknowledge that he is aware that De Zerbi may want to seek a new challenge in the future, but is determined to keep him at the Amex Stadium for as long as possible.
"We don’t want to lose him, he is an outstanding coach, probably one of the best in the world already, and that is going to make him attractive," Barber told The Athletic.
