Tottenham have announced the arrival of Johan Lange as the club's brand new technical director, starting as of November 1 2023. The 43-year-old will now be in charge of recruitment for Spurs, taking a clear look at both analysis and the talent identification side of incoming players.
Lange's role will see him move into a similar role that was held to that of Fabio Paratici when he was the club's director of football. However, the Italian left the club earlier this year following the announcement of a 30-month ban from 'any football-related activity' by FIFA that was later reduced upon appeal.
Lange will now work under newly appointed Scott Munn — who was named the Chief Football Officer earlier this year, joining from the City Football Group. Munn told the club website on the new arrival: «Johan has demonstrated an excellent track record of scouting and signing many talented and successful youth and senior players. He is a welcome addition as we strengthen our football operations.”
However, for those who follow Tottenham, Lange may not be a name that is familiar or has been seen very much through recent years. With that said, here's a look at the profile of the new technical director and his achievements so far in his footballing career.
Hailing from Denmark, Lange's first foray into the footballing world came in the form of an early coaching career in his home nation. In 2008 he was appointed as the assistant manager for Danish Superliga giants FC Copenhagen and spent four years at the club.
