Arsenal news: Mikel Arteta was booked by referee Paul Tierney for protesting against a decision in the Gunners' Premier League draw with Fulham
Mikel Arteta received his first booking of the 2023/24 Premier League on Saturday afternoon in Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Fulham.
"I'm used to them already," Arteta said when asked about the new touchline rules on Friday. "One week, bang done. I'm a new man, you'll see me on the touchline so calm, I won't move. I'm ready to go.
"I'm trying my best to be there. I have somebody in the stands who the moment I move *makes gesture of pretending to freeze*. I have a man there so you're gonna see tomorrow how well I behave."
Unfortunately for Arteta, he didn't stick to his claim against Fulham. The Arsenal boss was booked in the 80th minute by Paul Tierney after being left unhappy by a decision not to penalise Bernd Leno when the keeper caught the ball right on the edge of the box.
The former Arsenal goalkeeper collected the loose ball from Gabriel Martinelli and had a foot outside the area, with a borderline decision on whether he had also taken the ball out. Arteta vented his frustration and was showed a yellow card.
Arteta's frustrations were made worse when Joao Palhinha connected to Harrison Reed's corner to equalise in the 87th minute.
