After failing to find a way out of Paris Saint-Germain last summer, Hugo Ekitiké (21) is once again attracting interest this January, with the out-of-favour French forward touted for an exit. According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Wolverhampton Wanderers are amongst the interested parties.
Ekitiké made a cameo appearance on the opening day of the Ligue 1 season, however, he has not featured since. He reportedly enraged the club’s hierarchy when he refused to move the other way in a swap deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani. Whilst Kolo Muani did ultimately make the move to the Parc des Princes, Ekitiké has seemingly not been forgiven for his refusal to facilitate a player-plus-cash deal, and he has been ostracised ever since.
Interestingly, Eintracht Frankfurt are set to renew their interest this January, whilst Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg also have an interest. L’Équipe have added that the latter have made contact with the player’s entourage and are set to submit an offer soon.
Wolves have also made an enquiry as they look to strengthen their attack. A loan deal with the option to make the move permanent would perhaps satisfy all parties, according to Hawkins.
