Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli 'wanted' by Barcelona after Mohamed Salah transfer 'decision'

Barcelona are reportedly showing an interest in signing Gabriel Martinelli this summer. The Arsenal forward is a key member of Mikel Arteta's squad and is a regular starter on the left wing.

Martinelli has scored seven goals, including five in the Premier League, and claimed three assists for the Gunners so far this season. He joined Arsenal in 2019 from Brazilian outfit Ituano Futebol Clube for a fee of around £6 million.

The 22-year-old has since gone on to become one of the best forwards in the Premier League, and that has led to him being the subject of interest from rival clubs. And now, according to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Martinelli is one of three players Barca are considering signing this summer to strengthen their forward line.

The report also claimed that Liverpool starMohamed Salah was also under consideration, but he has now been ruled out due to the inevitably high price tag that the Anfield club would demand. As a result, Martinelli is reported to be a potential target for the La Liga giants.

The other two players named in the report are Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Brighton forward Kaoru Mitoma. Both have impressed for their respective club sides this season.

Martinelli signed a new contract with Arsenal in March last year and is under contract with the Gunners until 2027, with the option to extend by another year. The extension came at an important time for Arsenal, with Martinelli's original deal set to expire at the end of this season.
