Crystal Palace next manager odds as Jose Mourinho and Graham Potter lead Roy Hodgson replacement

Roy Hodgson's days as Crystal Palace manager appear numbered following their 5-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal. The Eagles went into the clash off the back of their first league win in nine but that victory over Brentford was quickly forgotten about with FA Cup elimination coming at the hands of Everton last week.

Palace therefore headed into the game at Emirates Stadium as underdogs despite Arsenal losing their last three games in all competitions. However they stormed into a two-goal lead with Gabriel heading home the opener before another effort of his struck Dean Henderson before nestling into the back of the net.

Leandro Trossard then seemingly put the game beyond Palace with a third just before the hour-mark with Gabriel Martinelli making it an embarrassing score line as he netted a brace in stoppage time. Prior to his two goals, TNT Sport cameras caught Palace fans holding up a banner that read: “Wasted potential on and off the pitch. Weak decisions taking us backwards."

The meaning of it appears to be questioning the decision from the hierarchy to keep Hodgson in charge for the 2023/24 season after he took charge in the middle of the last campaign. Talk of the 76-year-old departing was prominent during Palace's winless streak and despite that ending, a 5-0 defeat could signal time is up for Hodgson.

As a result, next Palace manager odds have been frantically changing with former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter becoming the favourite after he was spotted at Emirates Stadium watching the game. Meanwhile, Betfair have also listed Jose Mourinho as an option for Steve Parish and co. following his dismissal from AS Roma earlier this month.
