One of the Chargers' biggest stars is a fan of the new head coach.
Joey Bosa met with Jim Harbaugh in the wake of the latter's hiring, and the four-time Pro Bowler came away with nothing but positives.
"We sat down and probably talked for 30 minutes, an hour a couple of weeks ago," Bosa said, per The New York Post’s Jared Schwartz. "Great first impressions. … I have a lot of confidence in him and the staff that he's bringing around him.
"I think he seems like a really genuine guy, which you don't find that a lot in coaches all the time. He's interesting. He loves football more than anything. I think all he wants to do is win. The way he talked about his feelings toward this job and toward the future was pretty exciting."
Winning as a Charger has been something Bosa's been trying to do since arriving as the No. 3 overall pick in 2016, but such success has been hard to come by.
From Mike McCoy during the team's final year in San Diego to Anthony Lynn bridging quarterback eras between Phillip Rivers and Justin Herbert -- and then two-plus years of Brandon Staley with interim head coach Giff Smith thrown in -- Bosa and the Chargers have reached the playoffs just twice in the last eight years.
They just finished 2023 with five wins, their lowest total since Bosa's rookie year.
But luring Harbaugh to Los Angeles has been perceived as the get of the head coaching cycle, one that'll finally begin an ascension to contender status.
Harbaugh is fresh off delivering his alma mater, Michigan, the College Football Playoff National Championship, and before constructing a powerhouse in Ann Arbor for nine years, he amassed 44 wins and an NFC Championship in four seasons with the 49ers.
Bosa expects Harbaugh is capable of helming a success story
