Pep Guardiola sends Arsenal and Liverpool title warning amid Man City exit hint

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has sent a clear warning to Arsenal and Liverpool over this season's Premier League title race. It comes as the current champions have struggled to get their campaign underway so far, following on from their successes in the year prior.

Guardiola guided the side towards a historic treble when they won the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup come May. Moving on from that to motivate another push this campaign was a tough ask, but the Spaniard wouldn't have imagined quite how it has panned out.

Seven of their 17 games so far has seen them drop plenty of points, sitting fourth in the table as Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa are above them. There has been a slight break in their campaign as the Club World Cup has come knocking this week following their Champions League victory.

A win over Fluminense secured their status as Champions of the World, which has led to Guardiola saying he has won everything with the club. «I would like to say we had the feeling we would close the chapter, we won all the titles, there’s nothing else to win, I had a feeling the job was done, it was over,» he said.

«Enzo [Maresca] helped us to win the treble, Mikel [Arteta], all my staff, all the players from day one, Vincent to Kyle as captains, all players mentioned, Joao [Cancelo], Cole Palmer, Riyad [Mahrez], Ilkay [Gundogan], helped us to achieve something incredible to be here and to play this tournament. It's most difficult to arrive here, once we are here it’s perform well. Now it’s Christmas time, buy another book and start to write it again. The last eight years it’s over.»
