According to L’Équipe, AS Monaco have reached a verbal agreement with West Ham United over a loan move for West Ham United defender Thilo Kehrer (27).
Despite their third-place standing in Ligue 1, Monaco have been unconvincing defensively, and the Principality club are therefore understandably looking to strengthen in the summer. Whilst discussions over the signing of Stade Brestois’ Lilian Brassier (24) continue, one deal is now reaching a positive conclusion.
Monaco now look set to secure their first recruit of the January transfer window. OGC Nice had also been negotiating a deal to sign Kehrer, but they look to have been pipped by their local rivals. The verbal agreement between Monaco and West Ham must now translate into a written agreement.
Documents must then be exchanged between the relevant parties before a medical can be booked-in in the Principality. The loan deal will include an option to make the move permanent, which according to Foot Mercato, is set at €10m.
