Emmanuel Petit has named three players who Arsenal must sign this month as Mikel Arteta looks reignite the club's Premier League title hopes. The Gunners enjoyed a brilliant start to the season, climbing to the top of the table over the Christmas period with a draw against Liverpool.
After a valiant performance at Anfield, Arsenal suffered back-to-back defeats against West Ham and Fulham. The north Londoners have since surrendered top-spot to Jurgen Klopp's side, who are now three points clear of second-placed Aston Villa.
Manchester City, who have a game in hand, sit third on 40 points, while Arsenal have fallen to fourth. With the Gunners slipping down the table, Petit believes that Arteta needs three new players to reinvigorate the club's title hopes.
In an interview with DAZN Bet, the former Arsenal and Chelsea ace named Jean-Clair Todibo, Allan Saint-Maximin and Michael Olise, who was heavily linked with a £35million move to west London in the summer. He said: «Well as I said, the spine of the team, and I know Arsenal has been linked with different players in different positions, and some of them are very attractive.
»But if you look at what's going on in Ligue 1, for example, we have a few players that would be interesting for Arsenal. Just like Todibo, the central defender for Nice.
«Nice has the best defence so far in the league, and Todibo has now reached the national team, he plays in the central defence and he’s playing very well. And I think he has improved a lot in the last two years. And with Saliba, and the loan spell he had for Marseille, he came back strongly, and now we all know what kind of defender he is.
