What's the latest team news?
From last week, Brennan will miss out — it’s nothing too serious but he won’t be right for this week. Madders and Sonny trained today, just finished the session and seemed to get through it not too bad. We’ll just have to see how they pull up as it's fair to say they were a bit sore after last week and had a bit of an interrupted week training so just a matter of seeing how they pull up.
It's been an incredible start to the season from both players?
Yeah they’ve been good. They've been very good. Both on and off the field, along with Romero, have driven the lads to maintain a level of performance they’re going to get every week.
You went toe to toe with Arsenal, and some of the players were disappointed not to win the game. How proud are you of the players?
From that perspective absolutely, and that’s all player driven, it’s got nothing to do with me. They’re the ones embracing what we’re doing, and yeah it wasn’t euphoric in the dressing room by any stretch. We knew it was going to be a tough game and Arsenal have already shown they’re going to be a force this season, and they played well last week and had their moments but we felt like we more than held their own and the lads being disappointed is a good indicator of where we’re at and where their ambitions lie.
So it’s up to me and the other coaches to keep providing that platform and environment for them to keep pushing on and see what levels they can reach.
