Alexis Mac Allister has sent a defiant message to Liverpool fans, encouraging them to continue to rally behind the team as the title race enters its final stretch.
Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City on Sunday keeps them ahead of the champions by a point but they miss out on top spot on goal difference after Arsenal’s late win over Brentford on Saturday.
Many Reds fans feel as though the hosts should have walked away with all three points given the possession and chances they earned, and a lot of talk has centred around the stoppage-time penalty-box collision between Mac Allister and Jeremy Doku.

The Man City winger’s high boot in the final minute of injury time was not initially deemed as foul play by referee Michael Oliver and VAR Stuart Attwell judged the decision not to be significant error.
The draw means that a win over Brighton in the first game back after the international break could see Liverpool retake top spot with nine Premier League games remaining, should Arsenal lose away at Man City.
Mac Allister, who had scored the home side’s penalty shortly after half-time, took to social media after the match to send a rallying cry to supporters.
Writing to Instagram, he said: “This is Anfield, where every goal, every match, and every step fuels our journey. Let’s keep fighting together, because in this city, our spirit never walks alone.”
Speaking to BBC Sport after full-time, Mac Allister was adamant that Doku’s challenge on him should have led to a spot kick, describing it as “a clear penalty”.
