Nando's opening date confirmed as sign goes up on store

The opening date of a new Nando’s has been revealed.

Pictures taken by the ECHO show signs for the new restaurant going up at Marine Point retail park in New Brighton. It was reported in September last year that the popular chicken restaurant would be taking over the site formerly occupied by the stake house Flank.

Located next to Caffe Cream on the waterfront, it started as an American burger bar before becoming a Bella Italia in 2016. It became Flank after the covid lockdown, which closed a year later.

Greggs has also opened in the retail park since, taking over the old Harry Ramsden's fish and chip shop. A spokesperson for Marine Point said last year: "Nando’s and Greggs are excellent additions to Marine Point and we are very confident they will prove to be popular additions at Marine Point."

According to a post on its official website, the restaurant will open on February 6. It said: “Find us in the seafront redevelopment, near Caffe Cream and The Light cinema. Available for Eat-in, Collect and Delivery, it’s about to be one of your go-to places to eat, whatever your plans.”

The restaurant will ‘nod to the heritage’ of the chain with Portuguese-inspired tiles and handmade light features from South Africa. There will be 120 seats inside and 32 outside. The opening of the new restaurant, which has created around 35-40 jobs, means it will be the second Nando's to launch in Wirral after a site in Bromborough opened in 2015.
