The PGMOL would attribute the mistake to a ‘significant human error’, with VAR Darren England believing that the on-field decision had been to allow Diaz’s strike. Liverpool released an official statement on Sunday declaring their intention to ‘explore the range of options available, given the clear need for escalation and resolution,’ while the match officials’ audio has also been made public after the club made a formal request to receive it.

While Klopp believes the game should be replayed, he reiterated that such a stance is only his opinion and the club have not made such an approach to the Premier League.
“We are still going through the information that we have,” the German said when asked if the club would formally request a replay.
