Tottenham have done it again. Ange Postecoglou's side took it deep — as deep as deep gets — and once more it paid off.
For the second time in three weeks, Spurs were able to make the most of added time as they scraped past a defiant Liverpool side who ended the game with nine men after two reds cards. Joel Matip's own goal, coming in the 96th minute, handed Tottenham a late, late lead and ensured that there would be just two unbeaten sides in the league at the end of the weekend.
After Manchester City lost their 100% record in a shock defeat away to Wolves earlier on Saturday it was Spurs who won the battle of the competitors. On a day that also saw Brighton lose, Tottenham will end the weekend top of the table.
Getting used to the jubilation of such incredible events, Spurs fans went crazy at full-time, bringing their best rendition yet of Postecoglou's new chant to the tune of Robbie Williams' 'Angels'. It was the scenes just moments earlier that captured what it truly means to be part of the club right now though.
Drawn on by a demanding and expectant South Stand, the new never-say-die attitude on show paid off, rewarding Spurs with their second win after the 90th minute. It's only been seven games but they have already won five points in matches from the 95th minute onwards.
The joy, which followed a hugely controversial 90 minutes of football before it, was unconfined and reflected just how hard Spurs had to work for the game. Despite being ahead in the first half against 10 men following a controversial red card for Curtis Jones and then tasked with breaking down nine men for over 25 minutes, it wasn't until the last seconds that the home side got their reward.
