Diogo Jota is facing months out, Jurgen Klopp has revealed as the Liverpool boss gave a bleak update on the injury crisis at the club.
Speaking to the media ahead of Wednesday's home Premier League game against Luton Town — live on talkSPORT — the Reds manager confirmed his current woes.
Klopp said in-form forward Jota is anticipated to be out for a number of months following a knee injury suffered in the win over Brentford at the weekend.
Curtis Jones was also forced off with an ankle injury and will miss the midweek clash with Luton, while Alisson, Dominik Szoboszlai, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Thiago Alcantara all remain unavailable.
Klopp did not confirm whether Darwin Nunez would play, with the striker having also exited early against Brentford due to an injury issue.
«We have Diogo with a knee issue ruled out — it will obviously take months,» said Klopp, whose side face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, live on talkSPORT.
«Not available are Ali (Alisson), muscle injury — we don't know how long it takes but it will take some time to come back — and Curtis with a bone/ligament issue is ruled out.
»Then we have the others where we think we will deal with it day by day. Longer term like Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Dom (Dominik Szoboszlai) are on their way back but are not in team training yet so they are not available.
«That is the situation. What I said after the game if we have 11 we will go for it and that is the idea.
»We are where we are because of them (younger players). We have still options there, definitely. James McConnell or Bobby Clark, Lewis Koumas, Jayden Danns, massive talents, but we will see what we can do. We are planning for tomorrow."
