Gabriel Martinelli arrives for North London Derby but photo shows injury extent
Gabriel Martinelli's availability for the North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham appears to have been revealed. The Brazil international picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win against Everton last weekend with Mikel Arteta unsure if he could play or not in his pre-match press conference.
«With Gaby we are still assessing him and so let’s see whether he can make the game or not,» he said on Friday regarding the latest injury news. «Thomas for sure is out. And the rest hopefully available, we still have two training sessions but there were no big issues in mid week.»
Martinelli has since been pictured arriving to Emirates Stadium in casual clothes, all but confirming he has not been named in Arteta's matchday squad, with the rest of the players photographed in their Arsenal training kits. Leandro Trossard has joined Martinelli in being absent from the clash with Arsenal confirming he misses out due to a slight muscular injury.
In his place arrives Eddie Nketiah to form a front three with Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka. The Belgium international replaced Martinelli in Merseyside following his injury, but he now is unable to follow up on that winning goal against Everton.
Other major team news includes David Raya keeping his place over Aaron Ramsdale after the Brentford loanee started against PSV in the Champions League after making his debut in the victory over Everton.
