Liverpool boss Matt Beard believes the Reds are in a "completely different place" to last season despite last weekend's narrow defeat to Everton in the Women's Super League (WSL).
Megan Finnigan's header saw the Blues win the day at Anfield for a second consecutive year. Last term, disappointment in the Merseyside derby preceded a six-game winless run for Liverpool in the WSL.
But, with the Reds having already picked up six points through victories over Arsenal and Aston Villa, Beard is confident his side will not allow history to repeat itself this season. "I think it's six out of nine WSL games we’ve won if you’re going to go back to last season’s stats as well," Beard said.

"It’s not just about what we’ve done in pre-season and the players we’ve brought in. We’ve worked incredibly hard to make ourselves difficult to beat. It’s frustrating we lost to Everton but sometimes we can learn from that. We’re in a completely different place to where we were a year ago.
"I think if you look on paper at the fixtures we had, for sure (we’re happy). We said to the players in the debrief on Tuesday if we were offered seven to nine points from the first four games we would probably take it looking at the games we’ve had. We’ve had a good start to the season.
"Sunday was frustrating but sometimes you learn more from a defeat than you do in winning games. We need to draw upon some of the negative moments from Sunday and make sure they don’t happen again but for the most part I can’t fault what the girls have done this year."
