Friday evening was very much one of those games where Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham were not at their best but they managed to come away from Nottingham Forest with all three points. Going in at the break one goal to the good courtesy of Richarlison's header on the stroke of half-time, Spurs crucially doubled their advantage in the 65th minute through Dejan Kulusevski.
At a time when the hosts were putting the Lilywhites under plenty of pressure, the Swede's strike was vital as it gave them a crucial two-goal cushion going into the final 25 minutes of the contest. That goal from Kulusevski became even more important five minutes later as Yves Bissouma was shown a red card for a high tackle on Ryan Yates.
Initially awarded a yellow card by referee Jarred Gillett, the Mali international's card was upgraded moments later after the official went to check the challenge on the screen. Bissouma could have no complaints at all. Now needing to remain tight at the back and hit Forest on the occasional counter attack, Tottenham found themselves under plenty of pressure late on but they managed to see the game out to make it back-to-back wins after a nightmare run of form in November.
Saving Tottenham a number of times since his summer move from Empoli, goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario was once again on top form as he kept Forest at bay. Uncharacteristically shaky in one particular moment in the first half when he flapped at the ball when he could have gathered it inside his own six-yard box, Vicario was a tad lucky that the referee sounded his whistle seconds later and awarded the visitors a free-kick.
