Konate reveals TV genre he watches before matches to 'give him determination'

Ibrahima Konate has lifted the lid on what he likes to watch for his pre-match preparation to get himself in the zone, but admitted his team-mates don't quite understand his choices.

Konate has been a crucial part of Liverpool's bid for a quadruple that has only recently been relegated to a treble, with the Reds spending most of the season fighting on four fronts.

Jurgen Klopp's side are second in the Premier League by goal difference alone behind Arsenal, are through to the last-eight of the Europa League, and have already lifted the Carabao Cup.

Only a 121st-minute winner from Amad Diallo denied them a run at the FA Cup too, with Konate already playing some 32 games across all competitions for the Reds.

However, he has made a perhaps surprising admission over what it is that 'inspires' him as he builds up to games at the highest level.

'When I watch Manga, my Liverpool teammates say: "You're too big to watch that!" — what they don't understand is that it inspires me,' the 1.94m centre back said.

'Sometimes, before certain matches, I put on fight scenes and it gives me determination!'

He added: 'The mentality, for example, of a Vegeta (character from Dragon Ball Z), working to be better than the best, is something that motivates me.

'Sometimes, you'll do a workout, you'll think of him and it'll boost you. It's a daily inspiration.'

Konate's love for anime and manga is well-documented, the Frenchman previously having pulled out the famous hand-over-the-heart pose after winning the FA Cup from Attack on Titan.

He has also posted gifs of famous characters from shows like Dragon Ball Z, as well as making tributes in his captions on social media.

Konate is among the leading players in his position in the world, having been part of
