Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham squad on Saturday may well be the strongest he has had all season. With the return of Son Heung-Min and Yves Bissouma from international duty this week, it is certainly full of the most options he has had for months.
On one hand, Spurs started the season with a settled side with the arrivals ofJames Maddison, Micky van de Ven, and Guglielmo Vicario supported by Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar Sarr's improvement with trust. However, they now have all of this available plus Brennan Johnson, a fit and firing Richarlison, and the addition of two January signings.
Perhaps the most impressive element in all of this is just how Spurs have managed to remain in touch with their top four/five rivals — or fellow title challengers depending on your level of optimism — despite the turmoil. At the start of January, there was a point whereby seven of the possible starting XI against Brighton weren't even available.
Postecoglou's side can now go above Aston Villa and to within two points of Arsenal and Manchester City — albeit temporarily — with a win in north London. They have, as mentioned, perhaps never been as ready to do it either.
Here, football.london takes a look at some of the key selections Postecoglou has to consider.
Tottenham are welcoming back players from the Asia Cup and African Cup of Nations at just the right time. They have been beaten just once in the last six games and only once in eight league matches, more specifically, but now look ready to bolster their ranks significantly.
