Arsenal had to rely on David Raya and a penalty shootout to progress through to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. In a night of adversity at the Emirates Stadium with everything seeming to go against them, they pulled it off.
Leandro Trossard opened the scoring for Arsenal, finding the back of the net thanks to a brilliant pass from Martin Odegaard. However they couldn’t find the second but thankfully Raya was there to win it on the night.
Despite the game being shown on TNT Sports, football.london were in attendance. This meant we caught some things which the television cameras missed including the infamous Pepe up to his old tricks on the night.
I often spend the moments before kick-off looking for some intriguing insights into the warm-ups, some positional tips and perhaps even a small scoop. However, tonight’s game treated fans in the lower West Stand toward the southern end to something slightly different.

A lovely moment was seen as ‘Big Meeks’ was getting the small crowd of Arsenal supporters who had congregated in the area in front of where the quartet were presenting to sing the Frenchman’s chant.
“Thierry Henry, Thierry Henry, Thierry Henry, Thierry Henry" while fist-pumping the air as Carragher also tuned in. A lovely moment that earned a wry smile from the Gunners legend.
