Ahead of Manchester City’s crucial clash in the Premier League title race away to Brentford, Jamie Carragher took some time out to praise the recent performances of Chiedozie Ogbene.
In his first season in the top flight of English football, the Cork man has made an enormous impression as Luton Town look to upset the odds by avoiding relegation.
And on Sky Sports’ popular Monday Night Football, Carragher decided to highlight the Republic of Ireland international's impressive displays of late.
“There has been a lot of talk about Ross Barkley – rightly so – and could he break into the England squad for the next international break. But for me, Chiedozie Ogbene, I think, has been absolutely outstanding every time I watch him,” began the former Liverpool defender.
“He has played on the wing, on the left, on the right, and at the moment he is playing at right-wing back.
“It’s not easy for a right winger normally but it shows he has got defensive capabilities as well."
Carragher proceeds to show “the absolute flying machine” in action against Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United last weekend with both games showcasing the all round quality that Ogbene possesses.
Against Brighton, his delightful cross helped create Luton’s opening goal before his perfectly timed and “absolutely fantastic” bent run allowed him to score their second.
“That’s unbelievable the fact that he’s managed to bend the run – perfect bend – to get in front of the keeper, nice little tap in goal. Winger’s dream,” adds guest and West Ham United striker Michail Antonio.
"The way Dan Burn feels is the way I used to feel chasing Thierry Henry"
