Sven-Goran Eriksson makes Liverpool title prediction and accepts Jurgen Klopp offer

Sven-Goran Eriksson believes Liverpool will win the Premier League this season - and revealed he intends to take up Jurgen Klopp’s offer to attend training at the AXA Training Centre.

The former England manager, who is suffering from terminal cancer, will take charge of Liverpool Legends when they host Ajax in the LFC Foundation’s eighth annual Legends game at Anfield on Saturday. Previous matches have raised more than £6.4m, with the latest game a confirmed sell-out with a record-breaking crowd of 59,655 set to attend.

Eriksson is a boyhood Liverpool fan and was invited to take charge of the Legends after earlier this year sharing his love for the Reds and his regret at never being able to manage them.

Klopp would also invite Eriksson to the AXA Training Centre to ‘take charge’ of training for a day. And while that has not yet been arranged, the Swede confirmed he intends to take up the German on his offer.

And while Eriksson is surprised that Klopp will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, he was full of praise for the Reds boss as he backed him to win the Premier League in his final months at the club.

“That’s a surprise for me (that he’s leaving),” the Swede said. “No, I haven’t spoken to him. But it was very, very kind of him to make an invitation.

“One day I will come. But he’s doing a great job. I am sad that he is going to leave. Liverpool has a brilliant manager in this moment.

“It’s sad that he leaves because he does a great job. I don’t know him, I never met, but I think he’s a great motivator. It looks like that.
